Anyone that says no to more control by the Feds has my vote. I have not as is evident in my voting records always been a Perry supporter his record has some blemishes but he stood toe to toe and made a tough call. We need a tough Governer who can stay in the game. Hutchinson is Big Government come home. She voted for the bailout and so she lost my vote.

Perry can't brag about not taking funds from the Feds if he's actually done so. It's not smart of him to make our budget dependent on federal funds for it to be balanced. We will be facing a multi-billion dollar hole next budget period because of this. Perry is spending our tax money like a liberal, with the 2010-2011 budget being the largest in our state history! We need fiscal responsibility and accountability in the Governor's office. This time around I'm not supporting career politicians who live their adult lives off the public dime. I'm seriously looking at Debra Medina's campaign and platform. I bet noone will need to twist her arm concerning homeschooling issues since she's homeschooled her children.

Yes, he took the federal money to balance our budget because he could do that without future controls that would have resulted with the funds for unemployment and education. In fact his doing so prevent the need for a tax increase.

Perry can say 'no' to this fed handout, but he didn't say 'no' to the stimulus funds that helped balanced our state budget. Why does this seem hypocritical to me? I believe Perry was asked this in the last debate and he two-stepped all around the question. I don't see any 'victory' in what he did--looks more like lip service to get votes.

That was troubling to me as well and I testified as an expert witness in one of those cases. I used my position on the CPS Parental Advisory Committee to publicly challenge CPS.

As I've said before in this blog, I don't agree with everything he's done but he has done more to protect home schooling and parental rights than any other governor we've had in the last 25 years.

No one is perfect but in my view he is the best choice.

I'm having trouble supporting Rick Perry because of his support for CPS in the FLDS fiasco. I certainly don't plan to vote for Hutchison, and so I'm left with ?

Debra Medina seems to be a well-meaning candidate with some good ideas, but I'm not sure about some others. (Nullification?) And I'm afraid that if she were to be nominated, she might lose to the Democrat (Bill White?)

Why could Rick Perry not see what was obvious to me at the time: that CPS overstepped its bounds and actively persecuted innocent people and harmed children in its vendetta against the FLDS? (And I am not in agreement with the FLDS lifestyle or theology.) However, Perry's support for CPS in this incident was and is deeply troubling to me.
