Health Care Reform Dead?

While much has been made about the death of President Obama's effort to "reform health care" since the election of Republican Scott Brown in Massachusetts, it appears that the President and the Democrats have no plans to end their socialistic efforts.

In fact, it looks like the Democrats are following the same path they did in 1994, when they ultimately failed and lost both houses of Congress to the Republicans as a result. The President delivered a fiery, campaign style speech in Ohio in which he promised to continue to fight for health care reform. Reports are that he plans to deliver "an uncompromising" State of the Union speech.

One measure that Democrats may attempt to use to revive their agenda could be the bill by Senator Tom Harken to change the filibuster rule in the U.S. Senate. Brian Darling says, "These are merely first shots in an all out war by the left to exterminate the one rule in the Senate that makes it difficult for the Obama Administration to railroad [through] an unpopular left wing agenda."

More Democrats are announcing their retirement as the public begins to show more signs that we may be about to see a repeat of 1994 when the Democrats paid the price for trying to enact a leftist agenda. In spite of those political winds, President Obama and the Democrats appear prepared to use every tool at their disposal to accomplish their agenda.

Wait. Didn't 54% of Americans vote for Obama? Sounds like a majority to me.

Gallup poll last week shows that 55% want Congress to drop current proposal...only 32% want them to continue. Seems like the majority oppose Obama and Democrats plan.

But you are clearly obfuscating because the internals show that a large number of the opposition includes people who think the proposal doesn't go far enough. The majority still favors substantial reform.

Regardless of the reason they oppose it they do oppose it. And you are assuming that all the people who voted for Obama support the plan he and the Democrats are trying to pass when numerous polls show that a majority oppose the bill.
